Coach Cook (pictured center-back) played for the first competitive soccer team in Northwest Ohio in the early '80's ("Duff's Express", later named "Maumee Express"). His father (Jim Cook, Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame) founded the NWOYSL out of their home for his kids to be introduced to more competitive games than the rec leagues of the time. Findlay and Anthony Wayne quickly formed to join the NWOYSL, followed by others. There are some 30+ clubs that take part in the NWOYSL today.
Cook today follows in the family tradition: always striving to raise the bar of youth development in the area--for his son, for the community and the game in general. He holds federation licenses, coaches the state futsal teams and his education is ongoing.
